Whether you are a complete beginner or a more advanced surfer, when you join the Tribe in Popoyo you will get the chance to improve your surfing in some of the best waves in the world. Expect consistent offshores and plenty of fun!
Much more than a surf house, you will be staying in a stunning tropical guesthouse 200m from the Ocean. Peaceful and immersed in nature, this is the perfect place to hang out, make new friends and chill in between surf sessions!

This surf trip is open for people that never surfed before to advanced surfers.
You need no prior surfing experience to participate in this surf trip. There are different packages depending on your level: surf lessons for beginners and surf guiding for intermediates.

In Nicaragua you find a tropical climate with two distinct seasons: wet season and dry season. For more powerful and consistent surf, May to November is the best time to visit the Pacific coast but this is also the season with the most amount of rain (and crowds).
During November, at the start of the dry season, the sun shines and the crowds thin out, leaving us with less consistent and powerful swells but with more days in the shoulder to head high range. Nicaragua boosts 300 days of offshore winds per year, grooming waves into perfection. Expect an uncrowded beachbreak with multiple peaks out front and multiple waves within walking distance: whether you're looking to learn to surf or to get your first beachbreak barrels, this is the perfect time to visit Nicaragua.
You will find a beachbreak a few minutes walking from the accommodation and more peaks a 10-15 minutes walk. This means that you'll be able to surf as much as you want during this trip.

No wetsuit needed. Bring a rashguard and a surf hat to protect yourself from the sun!

Flying to Managua, Nicaragua is the easiest way to get to the surf house in Popoyo. From there we recommend arranging direct transportation to the surf house, especially if you are traveling with surfboards.
Other than Managua, you can also reach Popoyo from the Costa Rica border, San Jose airport or Liberia airport.
The prices for the pre-organized transfer shuttles are:

The cheapest way to reach Popoyo is via public bus from Managua or Costa Rican border to Rivas, then a bus to Las Salinas and then a taxi - as there's no bus reaching Popoyo. We recommend arranging transfer beforehand.

To get to the surf house you will have to follow the following steps (the whole trip takes around 3 hours):
1 - Uber/ Pickme from Bandaranaike International Airport to Kadawatha Bus Station – around 18€
2 - Bus from Kadawatha Station to Galle Bus Station ( 2h) – around 6€
3 - Taxi from Galle Bus Station to Ahangama – around 18 €
By private transfer:
From the Airport we can organize a transfer directly to the surf house - 65€ per way per car

The centre of the south coast of Sri Lanka surf scene stretches from Hikkaduwa to Welligama with differentwaves for all surf levels.
Kabalana beach, the spot in front of the surf house, is right in the middle of this coast and offers fun beginners' waves with multiple peeling peaks.
During the quiet swell period of December to March, waist to head-high waves are common and you can often find glassy and dreamy conditions.
